|
|
I am looking for a spring steel clip or (photo/drawing) of same, listed in the TR parts catalog. This clip secured the petrol tank overflow tube to the chassis.
The Triumph part number is 59050. Any information regarding this clip would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Frank |

Hi Frank, I don't claim to recognise the specific P/N you have quoted but the only clips I can think of for petrol pipes on a TR2/3/4 are sold under P/N 059191 by Moss (and others). You can find an illustration of this clip as item 13 on this page from the on-line Moss catalogue :
http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=2109#top
If this isn't what you are looking for can I suggest you try asking the question in the TR Register Forum :
http://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php
You will need to register to make a post but you do not need to be a member of the TR Register to use or post in their forum. I have found there is a huge amount of knowledge available there on absolutely anything TR related. They are also a friendly and helpful bunch in my experience.
Hope this might be of some help.
Cheers,

John, Roger, Many thanks. Actually, I am a member of TR register and have checked with the membership there to no avail. yes, we will most likely use P/N 59091, the clip listed by Moss. I was just exploring to determine if the original clip, 59090, as listed in the TR Parts Catalog was different. Perhaps it was not. I realize that this might seem rather trivial, but I get a kick out of researching such minutia!
Here is a photo of an early TR3A, with a clip in place. If you look closely, you can see that the grommet has fallen through the boot floor and is resting on top of the chassis rail.
Here is a sketch of the clip as sold by the US firm, The Roadster Factory.

Hi Frank,
I would say that if no one on the TR Forum can answer the question I doubt anyone can ! Did you post the question in the TR2/3/3A section or just in the general section. If the latter I'd have another go posting in the 2/3/3A section.
That said I'm sure the clip you have illustrated from the Roadster Factory is the same as the ones supplied by Moss. (Note both companies quote the p/n as 59191 not 59091) Whether this is the same as what you show fitted to the car I can't say. I take it the part mentioned in the 3A parts book isn't illustrated there ? The 59191 clip certainly is shown in the TR 4 / 4A parts book and the but there may have been something slightly different on the 3A.
