I'm sure most have noticed the cars in my signature. The truth is that two of them are not only mine, but my fathers which he shares with me. The Imp (as currently seen in the restoration forum) is being restored by us along with my Imp mad brother. While i'm carrying out a V8 conversion to my MGB.
The third car, is a Ford Anglia 105E that my dad has owned since about 1973. It started life as a 1964 997 Deluxe used as a second car by the wife of a doctor at my dads garage. It was badly damaged in the late 60's and reshelled with one of the very last Anglia bodyshells from Ford. Once the doctor retired they sold it to my dad who then used it until it started getting rough. He resprayed it and changed the colour scheme from Green/White to Wine Red/White using the interior from a rotten Super he had access to along with fitting Cortina 1500GT running gear.
Over the years the car then got used and abused, as a main then second car etc. Its extremely sentimental to him as its been here most of his (and all of my) life, one of my brothers was nearly born in the back of it!
Anyway he has told me that he is giving the Imp to my brother and the Anglia to me on the basis that they are still 'his' cars for as long as he wants them. It may sound wierd but I was very touched by this, especially a car with such history and sentimentality. Of course it will never leave the family!
So as of today, I now have an extra car. Its been dry stored for 10 years and needs a restoration but the car is solid with no structural rust and most of the mechanics still work. As can be seen from the photos the chrome is gone but I hope to restore the car after getting my V8 done OR someone can offer me space and help in the Cardiff area (wink wink).
I won't be doing anything to it for a while, but just thought i'd share my news with people who will get as excited over it as I do!

| Nothing better than a car that's a family member. Modern motorists wouldn't understand. |

Hi to you welshie, nice to see a tidy looking anglia awaiting rebirth--always a good sign when family owned for so long. I`m living fairly local to you and would love to assist you with the project--just to pass on a little knowledge and mechanical experience from a retired mech. Spanners are getting rusty as i speak !!
Cheers--Ray the Rocker... |

That's amazing, and doesn't look like it needs a lot to return to the road (depends what level of resto you want to do). She's only 2 years younger than me and I need a lot of work to look good as new! Best of luck with her! _________________ A Transit's for life, not just for Christmas!

| My first car, in 1971, was a standard, 3 speed, 105E. Grey with red interior. It was okay and got a lot of use driving from Alershot to Bournemouth backwards and forwards. Got a MkII Cortina 1300 about a year later. 1968 (RUS 808G). A much better car. |

Alan, are you sure it was a 105E? No 105E came with 3 speeds that I know of (unless you mean 3 synchro). The Anglia with 3 speeds was the 100E. _________________ 2013 Dodge Durango R/T Hemi

Suppose I could be wrong but it was a 1961 model, utterly basic with the small grill at the front. -First gear- was reverse. Perhaps a 100E box had been put in it. As it was my first car I didn´t question the gearbox |
