Hi all,
Not really sure what to do, need some advice.
I have a 1964 Vauxhall Victor FB VX490 with some body work problems. I need repair sections or sections cut from another car to help build the worst bit on my car. I don’t mind if the areas I need are rusty or slightly damaged, just something I could work with to make right before fitting to my car. The sections I need are at the end of the sills just before the rear wheels, I need both sides. I do hope you can as mine have totally gone, the photo is of my brothers car.

I would doubt if these sections are available off the shelf, you will need to have them made to fit the car _________________ ROVER

I think you're going to have to make these from scratch. Fortunately you have your brother's car as reference though.
I'm no expert on this sort of thing but I would start by making patterns out of cardboard and go from there. |

The original F type Victor, had a poor reputation for rusting.
I remember when the FB was introduced, that part of the showroom displays, was a O/S/R wing on a board. This was multi-coloured stripes, showing the various stages of coatings applied to protect it. Our BMC garage was next door to the Vauxhall dealers then. As I recall, the full wheel arch was on the wing, right down to the sill. So unless some company has started to make a repair section, it's definitely a DIY job. Sorry, not helpful! |

My dad's FB has gone there as well, it was restored about 15 years ago but they seem to have just filled over the rust in the rear wheelarches as it's bubbling through under the shiny paint job. A common rust spot.
I'm afraid you'll have to make the bits from scratch, looking at the area I'd make it in about five or six sections, make templates using an old cereal packet, transfer them onto metal and weld them in. If it helps use your brother's car to take measurements from. Just take your time. |
