Mot today for the P2 and I now have 9 straight passes in a row with no advisories, not bad for a 64+ year old car
A round trip of 25 miles to Central Garage and back. Last summer was the least miles I have driven her, a total of 220 since last years MOT and a total of 5265 since my ownership the past 8 years. Insurance paid for another year and it will be taxed by the end of April for a full 12 months costing not a single penny. Maybe we should all drive pre 73 cars and stick two fingers up at the government.
I made this 'Olde 'style Rover advert from a picture I took in 2007 at Thirlestane Castle
This was my original picture

| 220 miles in a year..... good grief, I've sometimes done more than that in a day in my Riley. No wonder you've had no advisories. |

I've often travelled further in the Rover, last year was just one of those years when it wasn't used much but where I drove almost 100k in my other cars _________________ ROVER

Nice work. I can't remember the last time one of my cars passed with no advisories, I think it was my very first A35. Usually it's a fail and a long long list of advisories.
I like the Thirlestane Castle picture as well. |

You just need a good mechanic "mate". I do not have to take the two cars , I own, around. I only do low mileage and he knows I will get any problem fixed. He can do a brake test and get a read out in his office !
I took a Morris 1100 for a test in the Uk, it failed. So I took it to another place and he failed it for other problems. I fixed the problems of the second tester, the first one was only out to screw me. |

Cool ad John, that must have taken you a wee while.
That said, you need to get out more, between the time the ad must have taken you and your low milage you must almost be a hermit. LOL!
Of course this is coming from a man who's Chevrolet did 3 miles in the last year, the 3 miles being down to the MoT station and back. Once the new museum is open I've promised myself to get my life back into the slow lane! |

21st June John - but don't come that day as the statisticians have estimated our visitor figures for the first year will be between 750,000 and 1,000,000, probably 50% of them arriving on the 21st! |

No change of me going then Scotty, I want peace and quiet when I go round, thanks for the warning.

2nd MOT of the year today was the Range Rover which passed but an advisory on the two front brake pipes which will require changing in the next few months to keep everything safe

I admire your car, but if all did no more than ten times the yearly mileage driven when taking it for MOT they would never wear out! Nor should anything wear sufficiently for MOT problems. Seizure would be the main problem.
No wonder my car never looks anything like as good as others at shows. It is USED.

My 1938 P2 16 passed today as MOT ran out whilst it was off the road after dropping an exhaust valve head last May and holing No 2 piston - all professional rebuilt now with new valves/rockers guides unleaded, core plugs and water passage mods and new piston of course. Engine now very quiet and smooth
It had only done 200 miles since its last MOT so was not expecting any problems

| Don't forget the other problems of old age on rubber and plastics. So it is not just wear and tear, for MOT inspections. I have seen rubber hoses breaking up from the inside, you cannot see anything from the out side. How old are your rubber brake hoses? |
