These were buses not lorries. They are Daimler COG5 models, my favourite bus of all time. It was quite common for Bus Companies to convert old buses into tower wagons used to repair and maintain the overhead wires for trams and trolleybuses or into breakdown & recovery vehicles to bring in broken down buses
They have a Birmingham COG5 bus at the Bus Museum at Wythall and bring it out every year for you to ride on. _________________ Keep Torqueing,
