Additional Information:
Yes I am probably making a big mistake here and will no doubt regret it (especially when winter is here lol) but I have decided to sell, as it’s a shame to leave it sitting out in the elements. This car needs to be used and enjoyed by someone with the time to use it. (I’m using my spitfire )
In my opinion I would describe this car as condition 2, it is by no means a show winning concours car but it is not rotten either. He has justd passed its MOT on the 7th of May without any advisories.
Please see my thread in the restoration section for pictures of the car: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=38520
The same information is also on the cars BLOG: http://jethromorrisminor.blogspot.com/
The car is pretty much the same as these pics.
Sill pics http://gallery.myff.org/gallery/932568/CIMG2053.JPG both sills are the same clean and good.
I have had this car for almost 13 months it has been my daily driver and only car until May this year, this is a working car not a garage queen.
During this time I have carried out some minor welding as well as a re-spray and a re strap of the passenger seat. A new fuel line was fitted in late summer along with a good 2nd hand petrol tank. New leaf springs were fitted in May of this year. Oh and the fuel gauge works correctly lol
There are a variety of spares with the car and these include:
Rear wing usable but requiring small repair to the bottom lip
Boot, again requires small repair but is useable
Bumper
Grill and surround
Water pump
Radiator (untested)
Alternator (untested)
Starter motor (untested)
Trunnion and dampers (untested)
Hinges and spacers (untested)
Various gauges (untested)
Some chrome handles and mirrors
Set of unused hubcaps
Unused headlight rims
Brake shoes
Brake pipes
5 wheels with tyres
Several light fittings and other stuff
Morris marina and Morris minor Haynes manuals along with a restoration manual and several minor monthly and minor matters magazines.
There is some history which includes a photo album of when the car had a full restoration along with some receipts fo various bits and bobs.
All instruments work as intended, (Wipers, washers, indicators, headlights and horn)
The engine is a 1275 recon Morris Marina unit that was still in it's crate, It has good compression, does not burn any oil nor does it leak water, I was amazed that this car did not leave an oil stain on my garage floor like other owners until I questioned the engine age with a previous owner the engine has only done about 25000 miles, this explained why I was not needing to top up the oil. I have every confidence this car can make any journey but due to age cannot gurantee.
This car has been great fun, so much so that I got rid of my modern car a week after I got this and thus it became my daily driver, it has been very reliable.
Please be aware that this car is far from concours, it is a working car used for the weekly shopping run, short daily commute when I can't be bothered to walk and for rides out to visit friends and family and the various classic car shows in the North East of England.
Genuine reason for sale, I have just got myself another classic and although I would love to keep this one, (I don't have room for 2 cars and it would be a shame to leave this one sitting out doors). I would like this car to go to someone who will continue to look after it.
Viewing is highly recommended and indeed encouraged.
The car is sold "as seen" and no warranty is implied or given, you are bidding to buy, not to come and haggle.
I have been using this car as an everyday runner and covered about 4000 miles this past year.
It has broken down 3 times for the following reasons
1. Dead battery
2. Loose connection on regulator
3. HT lead came off (I hadn't put it back on correctly) Other than that I have had trouble free motoring.
1275 marina engine with HS4 carburettor, this was an un-used recon unit that the previous user had fitted circa 25k so if the speedometer is the same then this engine has only done about 20k
Front anti roll bar
Paintwork is generally acceptable all over with only a couple of blebs
Engine runs great no smoke knocks or bangs
Gearbox is good and changes well up and down
Bad bits
Passenger front wing has some minor bubbling.
Drivers glove box it is usable but really could do with being replaced and the chrome bit around it is not that good either.
Headlining has a couple of marks, I don’t remember seeing any rips but had intended to replace this at some point also.
This is not a concours by any means though I imagine it could be if that was the desire. This is a working car used for shopping and a short commute to work as well as drives out to car shows etc.
Viewing is recommended as opinions differ.
Looking for £1800
I would advise coming with a van for the spares.
NOTE: I will not accept money transfers from your aunties’ second cousin in Africa and I will not deal with anyone outside of the UK. |
