It looks like they are the same. I think I will have to have the block sleeved. These are rather deep.
The bores are at +20 and the max is +60. _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1

Nic , they are different, did you see my post on your liner question? you can use the E piston it better as it has an additional oil ring, but it will raise the compression ratio slightly. I have some new standard bore E pistons and some new +40" series one pistons if you are interested.

OK the engine is out and stripped. It will need a few new parts but as I drew the pistons out I noticed something that stopped me in my tracks. Why is there a swastika and 18 written on the con rod. As we all know A is the first letter and H is the eigth letter.
Does anyone have a explanation for this? _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1

I just love conspiracy theories!
We can discount the 18 having anything to do with Hitler. You have a left facing swastika, whereas the symbol for the Nazi party was a right facing. This is determined by the direction of the top horizontal line.
According to Wikipedia "By the early 20th century, it was widely used worldwide and was regarded as a symbol of good luck and success."
Is it the same on all the con-rods and do they all have the same part number? _________________ Brian

Brian, Only 3 of the con rods have the swastika and they have the same part number except there is an "s" suffix. The Nazis used the swastika in both clockwise and counter clockwise. However the Buddhist used the swastika in its counter clockwise form. So do we summise that a group of Buddhists settled in Abingdon and made cars from peace and love? I believe 8 is a very lucky number in China. I wondered why it feels so calm in the 8. Oh dear this emoticon is an 8 and ). _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1
