I was contacted on behalf of a client by a garage 18 months back to go and view one for sale here in France. In brief, it had spent the majority of its life in a museum and had been used before that as an airport taxi in Austria and was in good condition except for a bit of rust in a door and the rear valance. The client had to make an instant decision on buying it because the seller had one hour left to take it off of Fleabay, and a price was agreed of £25,000. Personally, this isn't my world, so I was quite shocked to see how much they fetched.

However, if I was shocked then, I was gobsmacked today to read that one had fetched $217,800 at a recent sale by Barratt Jackson in California. Who on earth can think that these are worth that kind of money? That's dearer than an almost concours E-type for goodness sake.

There was one under going restoration at JD Classics last couple of years.
Cost Question Question £500,000 Question Question
Yes six figures.
When asked why
"Because I can"

Some have more money than sense.

A lad on Thanet classics has just done the same to a splitty for peanuts, all his own work, and already been winning trophies and recognition.

PS. This is JD's website

Also they do open days.
Anyone with even a slight interest in classics, or just cars, should have it on their 'bucket list' of things to see
