|
|
I need a new 6 volt battery for a 1947 Cadillac BUT I'm trying to avoid buying one of those "authentic hard rubber cost the earth and aren't all that good anyway" types.
The one on it now came on the car from America and is made in a normal modern way and is 9 years old.
The cranking amps on the label are 815 (!), 650 amps at 0ºc.
As it's a freshly rebuilt 5.7 litre V8 it needs to have a bit of grunt, one for a Morris 8 just isn't gonna cut the mustard!
Any suggestions?

There are a number of online battery sellers for cars and bikes. So I would shop around for the best deal.
Here's an example:

Could you parallel a couple of MGB bateries? _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1

I have tried looking around, saw prices of £250-£350 which of course put me right off!
That's why I thought i'd ask here incase anyone knows better.
There might be room to paralel wire two smaller batteries yes. _________________ 1937 Standard Flying Twelve

The batteries you need are the sort used on those Niftylift cherry picker machines.
They use 6 volt cells in series to give a hefty current at 24 volts.
I'm having a go at restoring one of those machines and bought some batteries about 12months ago for £50 each. Checked today and our supplier has gone out of business but any hire shop should give you a local contact for the same thing. |
