I've been restoring and exhibiting vintage tractors for about 20 years, but have a rather unusual restoration project underway.
I want to restore one of my 1943 Fordson Standard, Model N, tractors in its original Mid Kent Water Board livery. I noted that many of you have a keen interest in utility vehicles and wondered if anyone would have any archive material, or photo's showing Mid Kent Water Board vehicles of this era. I've tried contacting South East Water (previously Mid Kent Water), but they haven't yet been able to provide any archive material that would assit me with this project.
If you have any details, or can point me to a web-site or restoration group that specialise in these vehcles - that would be great.
I'd love to be able to post a photo of the tractor in its current condition, but its a scanned photo and I can't seem to attach it to this posting.
Here's hoping..... |

Hi
Couple of thoughts.
If it was a wartime vehicle and you want to do it in contemporary style, would it be liveried or would it be done in some form of Grey like the Fergies were or maybe a Khaki or a Green..
If you are in the SE area there are a few re-enactors in that area, often showing up at special weekends on the various steam railways.
They might well have local info, or know who holds such info. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Many thanks, most of my Fordsons are indeed green, they were previously bright orange before war broke out and an obvious target in the field. I'll try the local groups - that's a good idea.
When I bought the tractor there were remnants of light grey and dark grey paint - which I can just about get back to. I'd really like to get the right style and colour of the Water Board name, probably have been painted across the fuel tank.
Thanks again, |
