The cheapest way is to tip it out over the ground, in a large area, away from your house, garage etc. Most of it will evaporate to the skies ! And give more greenhouse warming, if you believe that. It is less than 20 c. in Sydney at the moment, must be green house warming ....... And raining.....

Its good for cleaning, brake parts and engine parts, so you could always keep it in a metal container for such use!

I prefer the use as a cleaner, however as suggested by Mog, it acts as a wonderful weed killer.

Suggest use as required for cleaning, then pour the 'dirty' stuff on your favourite weeds.

Depends what is meant by "manky".
As long as it is not contaminated by solids, I get rid of it a little at a time in my current petrol vehicle added to a tank containing fresh fuel. The lighter fractions needed for cold starting will have evaporated, but the rest will not cause any problems as far as I know.
Anyway - waste not want not!
Jim.

Hmmm some of this is old brown stuff drained out of old tanks, I wouldn't want to run that through my injectors or carbs Smile

Take it to your local household recycling in an old oil drain can, then you can dilute their waste oil with it Wink

I did wonder about mixing some up in old oil then disposing of, I think that'd be preferable to sprinkling it over the flowerbeds, or the lawn

I've been using it for cleaning stuff as well, works quite well for cleaning engine internals, for example an old sump with oil that had been dried on for years. Mine's out of a car that's been idle since 1988, definitely more similar (in colour) to bitter than lager.

I would not mix it with oil then try and dispose of it.
A friend of mine has a waste oil heater in his workshop,I do not think petrol in the oil would do his appliance any good. Boom !!!
Have you noticed how old stale petrol really stinks,I got some on my workclothes and went in the house for some lunch,it had a great effect of keeping everyone away from me.
I too use it for cleaning etc. Or to get the bonfire going.....now that is very unpopular nowdays, having a good old burnup.

I have a link to the design of a waste oil heater, from the USA. It works on a drip feed system, no pumps or electrics to go wrong. Need to feed it filtered waste oil and clean it on a regular basis.Send PM to me and I will see if I can find the link. Is it true that you need a licence to burn waste oil in the UK ? Heard it was a few hundred quid per year !

It's true, the local council want their cut. I was told of someone who managed to avoid this by buying secondhand. Wink

Very, very, naughty of him. I would never condone such activities. Wink

I asked the chap at my local 'recycling' tip some time ago what to do with old petrol. He said put it in the waste oil tank.
