Hello
I'm hopefully going to look at a Rover P4 100 with a view to buying it and wondered if there were any suspect areas other than the norm. that these suffered from either bodily or mechanically please.
Thanks
Graham. |

P4's and especially the 100 are well made and last well but the newest will be 50 years old and the body and the 16g box chassis have loads of rust traps so beware filler and plating. Doors bonnet and boot lid are ally which can dissolve if near steel
The engine should be almost silent and smoke free and must start on the button (key actually as the 80/100 were the first Rover to dispense with it!)
Very expensive to rebuild the engine - suggest you visit the P4 Driver's Guild site and Forum and also loin the club _________________ Rover P2

Not really - some rot around the rubber bump stoop but an easy repair. The front outriggers do dissolve and the o/s one holds the brake master cylinder.
New sections can be had but the body must be lifted or access holes cut in the floor to weld the top edge - the A post & panel will then also be seen to require attention! _________________ Rover P2
