What is being held up by the headlamp cross bar?

My guess is that it's holding up a strap attached to the front axle, that would be used to pull an immobile Ford out of a muddy hole during a trial.

Had to pop into town at lunch today and sat outside the post office was a very tidy Sunbeam Rapier. Grey/maroon and pre-63 number plate.

While I was in Longstone Tyres (Bawtry) I saw they had a racing Frazer Nash. Apparently it can do 138 mph!

Also, an Austin Seven sports which is also used for racing.

Neither car was particularly smart but I still wish I had taken photos.

Note: The Frazer Nash is captured outside their place on Google Earth.

A also saw a Morgan. Nothing particularly unusual about that except it was a rather ungainly four seater.

Well, at least when one starts collecting a family, one isn't compelled to resort to a Volkswagen Golf??? Smile

Personally, I have no regrets in not contributing to the plethora of little consumers. I carried on driving my Triumph GT6 long after the Golf GTi era had passed me by!

This one, I think, or one very similar to it. This was Sunday, so perhaps returning from the meeting at the Heritage Centre that I didn't know about until the day after.

Quite a rare sight on the roads these days. When I was still living at home my younger brother had one of those. He has always been a gentle, kindly sort of chap and wouldn't have said bad word about anyone. When he found his lovely Wolseley Mini had been vandalised overnight he simply cried like a baby. My Dad and I soon had his car put to rights so it all ended well. Wink

Due to a road closure I had to drive an alternative way home, I spotted in a village near me 2 late 1940s Bentley MkVI's sat out in the open at the edge of a field.

Their condition looked ok and certainly not like they had been out in the open for much time.

Yesterday in really mucky weather I followed a mid-green Morris Oxford MO driving along, looked like a tidy example. Other more recent, old-ish, spots include 1980s Porsche 911, a 944, a Peugeot 405 GL, and an F-reg Audi 100 Avant. Oh and a Volvo 960, all in use. A Sherpa camper was spotted in a driveway today also.

I've seen a dark silver / grey 944 a few times over the last couple of days. I think it's one I've seen before.
