How do people in England park such yank tanks in UK. I found it difficult to find parking for small cars in UK. Mind you it is getting bad here too. _________________ 1938 Morris 8 Ser II Coupe Utility (Pickup)

Disapproving nods from connaisseurs... At that time Imperial was a separate MOPAR make, apart from housemates Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler. _________________ a car stops being fun when it becomes an investment |

So far as I am aware the name Imperial was first used by Chrysler in 1926. |

True, but the Imperial was made a stand-alone make from the mid 50s until the early 70s, at the time when the car pictured was made. In the 80s Chrysler again had a Chrysler Imperial in the showrooms. Horrible cars (the 80s versions!). _________________ a car stops being fun when it becomes an investment |

Fair enough. I guess I am just cynical. Chrysler owned the 'Imperial' brand so quite how "stand alone" it was I wouldn't like to say.
A bit like RR and Bentley. |

Passed a Black Austin Metro this morning on my way in. Young lad driving it, looked like it was being used as a daily driver. Not immaculate but tidy. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Had Chrysler taken over Rootes Group by the time the Humber Imperial was offered?

Good question.
Chrysler started buying shares (30%) in 1964 when the Humber Imperial was introduced but their complete takeover didn't happen until 1967. (So says Wiki). Coincidence or not ??
Either way, the Humber Imperial was superbly finished. |

I saw a Lotus Sunbeam (or Sunbeam Lotus, I can never remember) this morning, in the rain. I vaguely know the owner, not sure if he was going to the local meeting at the Heritage Centre, I didn't go because of said rain. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Just for a moment I thought the bar for that tow-bar was a bit too thin, but it turns out it's only holding the electrical socket, no sign of a tow ball. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

The black bumper bars stand out like the proverbial dogs X. They were always chrome. Goodness knows what the electrical socket is for. If some nut runs into it it will be gone! _________________ 1938 Morris 8 Ser II Coupe Utility (Pickup)
