|

Hello,
We have yet to get our caravans out this year.
What started as a glorious March has ended up as a washout and cold April down our way.
Perhaps it is ok if you just take a more modern caravan and sit in it all weekend looking out at a windswept venue, but if you have anything classic or vintage plus all your display equipment to exhibit it is certainly a no no.
The forth coming Bank Holiday is going to be interesting, with this wet and sodden ground the off road areas will resemble a tank assault course by Saturday morning.
We have booked into some events next weekend but may take some classic cars or vans to events rather than camp out for the weekend if the weather does not abate.
At least you can find a hard patch of ground to park sometimes.
We have been towed of venues too many times in the past to bother with this now,a large chain and tractor coupled to the front of one of our restored classic vehicles and vintage/classic caravans is not good...damage is easily done..and its no good complaining to the organisers they are just trying to help you out.
Then you have to spend the rest of the week power washing the muck from under your vehicles...sorry but we are not allowed to do that anymore,we are in a drought area.!!
Looking forward to Blazing June.!!!!

| Yes next weekend I am booked into a Country Fair and Show close to Woodbridge (Glemham Hall). Unless the weather improves it looks like my Eccles will be stopping at home and like yourself just take along the vintage car. |

2 royale rallys march bewdley and april wookey under our belts as well as 6 weekends including easter away in the glorious eden valley (our second home) we don't care about the weather its quieter in the rain all the fair weather campers stay at home
so pack your kit and get out there summer in the rain and snow is awsome

We would love to be away much much more in all weather but I work all week and he works in shifts of 4 so we have to plot everything we do,we sadly lost all our parents and earlier this year our elderly neighbours we looked after and were looking forward to getting away with out worries but he does not get weekends off now till August and does not like going away in the school holidays - so I must sit down and sort out the best that I can for the most days and the least time off for him - counting the years till we can retire |

As I stated it is fine in a modern classic or ordinary caravan. But try sitting in the pouring rain in a 1930`s caravan,no proper insulation, single glazed, canvas roof,no inside toilet, period sun awning and towed by a period vehicle.
Yes our classic Carlight would stand it,but that is a totally different type of caravan to a cottage on wheels which i was talking about.
I would rather be my workshop getting stuck into finishing a project off than hearing rain on my tin roof.
With this late start to the season I do not want to hear..."I ran out of time to finish the project properly".. we now have time to really finish them off.

We are braving the weather on Saturday, for the Ripon rally. Checked on Monday that the site is not under water or resembling a bog.
Later in the month we are going to Gloucestershire, so hope it dries up down there! |

So many shows cancelled this Bank Holiday weekend... here are two we were to attend but now cancelled.
Rushden Cavalcade.
Woburn Classic Car Show.
Even our local Vintage and Classic car club annual spares night this Thursday evening, normally a good event will probably not get off the ground...or stuck in it.
I will get my Hillman Convertible out one day this year.
But not the caravan this weekend.
Stop Press.....Even events on the 13th/14th May are now cancelled..will we ever get away.

Hope against hope that this weekends 'Wings and Wheels Show' will not be cancelled. Weather forecast for Suffolk not looking too bad so fingers crossed. Anyone else off to the show? its at Henham Park near Southwold.
Just been advised this show is cancelled due to waterlogged grounds |
