|
|
I have a petrol filler cap that uses a large "rubber washer" to seal the cap onto the filler neck. The "rubber" has perished and I would like to replace it. I use the quotation marks as i'm guessing the seal is made from something more than standard rubber (1960's car) what could I use to make this washer..it needs to be unleaded fuel proof and long lasting?
Would Nitral work or will normal rubber do? _________________ Rust Junky & oil addict. |

Had to get a new large "rubber washer" for the petrol cap on my 1949 Rover for an up and coming MOT and for a quick and temporary fix as I didnt have time to order one I cut one out of an old inner tube 5 years later its still in good condition showing no signs of perishing. _________________ If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off |

Apparently it should be a leather washer fitted to the Rovers _________________ ROVER

Well, leather is an easy fix. I needed something similar for a steel can that I use for petrol, and simply cut some leather from an old boot. (I live with the philosophy of 'throw nothing away, it will come in handy some day'!) _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |
