Not been on here for a while so I thought I’d post something. The Aston has been away with the specialist who looks after it for the last few weeks so I decided to re-decorate the garage. You know; get rid of 20 years of rubbish to the tip – mostly “stuff that’ll come in handy”, tidy away all the tools, clear the shelves and re-stack all the oils and polishes etc. It’s amazing how many pots of paint I’d collected over the years. Anyway I found some white emulsion and an unopened tin of Wick’s grey floor paint so I got cracking.

Strangely the builder had given me an Artexed ceiling but left a gap all round the edges because the walls are not plastered. I filled these and all the other gaps with expanding foam filler then painted the walls and ceiling. I found some carpet tiles in mid-green on eBay so invested £25 in a new floor for the workshop area. I fancy painting a racing green band around the walls at waist height when I’ve finished for a neat look.

The garage doors were a dull dirty dark grey on the inside so needed painting. Homebase had a buy-one-get-one-free offer on what they called one-coat universal paint so I bought some in light grey which I applied with a small brush to get behind the door frame and in tricky areas and a mini roller for the flat surfaces. I’m really pleased with the result.

Halfway there and hopefully if I get a good run at it tomorrow I’ll get close to finishing, then the fun bit putting up some new posters and sorting out all my tools!

The mess to start with Sad

No, they're safe although they are new ones issued by castrol when you bulk order oil. Smile

Oh no, Henry is my 'car/garage' vacuum. He lives in the knee hole under the old wooden school desk.

Been down there again best part of today. Finished painting the walls, ceiling and floor in the other bay. Got the other door and a few details to finish off now. Probably a day's work but wife wants me to help clear the loft tomorrow Confused

Uncle Alec & Richard - but really for our Bath & West viewers:

Did you spot my post on Castrol oil jugs a couple of days ago?
It's here: http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11910

I wish I had room in my suit-case!

That rack of old liquids on the right hand side; did you bin those as well or are they available for collection? Very Happy

Hi Tony, no I assure you they are all safe and sound and going nowhere! There's more elsewhere in the house but that's are my Bordeaux stock...

Looking forward to the Le Mans Classic Smile

Spent a few more hours in the garage today and have now finished painting the inside of the other door, this really brightens it up. I’ve since discovered yet more gaps round the ceiling which I will have to fill. The reason I am so determined to seal all the gaps is because our lounge is built above the garage. Consequently whenever I start a car or put one away you can smell exhaust fumes for quite a while in the lounge above. So, more expanding foam is required and I want to get some draft excluder on the garage doors to stop the dust coming in. Then that’s about it. Smile
