For those who are interested, I've scanned the manual for our 1968 Alpine S.
It's a bit the worse for wear, having sat in the van for 44 years.
Interesting to note - current advice is never use steadies to jack up the van and never grease wheelnuts - compare and contrast with the original instructions:

If you look at the chassis diagram it had a fully welded steel construction and the corner steadies were welded to that, so could be used to jack up a van as no load was put into the floor or the body. With modern almost chassis-less construction with the corner steadies attached to the sandwich floor you could cause serious damage and the twisting effect could create leaks at the body joints. I suppose that they call this progress.

I believe that the best caravans were made in the mid 70s where you had a full steel chassis plus a sandwich floor. The best of both worlds.
