At 1.00PM today I saw a rare version of a TR4/TR4a which I have never seen in the metal and only read about fleetingly.
Have a look at these photos and I'll tell you some more about it afterwards.

The TR in question is a 1967 Triumph TR4/GTA of which only four were ever built by Harrington Coachworks and sanctioned by Triumph Motors.
The correct title is a Triumph Harrington-Dove GTR4A which was sold exclusively by Dove Garage in Hove, Sussex.
Dove should be pronounced Dou-vet.

Approximately fifty TR4s were build by Harrington Coachworks but only four 4/As.

The owner this example and his wife were most courteous and evidently very enthusiastic about their vehicle. They had owned the vehicle for over three years having rebuilt a badly damaged and rusted car and I was shown the "before" pictures.

What condition was it in? The answer to that is that it looked to me like a brand new car.

How does one value such a rare survivor?[/img]

What a belter!!! good spot (although on a rare sunny day I think I'd wish that I could pop the roof down!).

Very rare indeed.I do feel the roofline could have been a bit lower though.Wasn't there a firm who sold kits to convert your own car to a fastback?
Personally,I prefer the Harrington Alpine,it looks a bit more "finished".

Ashley and Lenham did fastback roofs for many cars (Spitfires, MGs etc) so they might well have offered kits for the TR also.
