It's interesting and surprising that it has a central throttle in a vehicle as late as 1947! Other Ford commercials that I'm aware of from that period had the conventional layout.

Shame, hopefully the rot hasn't got into that side horizontal seam too badly. Centre throttle pedals were a feature until the late 1940s on them, then they switched to a more normal (a la 103E) pedal arrangement.

Peter,

When I started my apprenticeship in 1956 the place that I worked had one that was probably only a couple of years old at that time. Very confusing thing to drive for a novice.

Thanks Art,

I was speaking to someone who had recently driven a vintage car so equipped. He said the trick was to drive with you left foot parked over the clutch, giving your right foot nowhere to go (leftwards) in an emergency.

The Minor has that layout (as does the Dodge tourer), it becomes second nature really quickly. The Dodge will be interesting as the position of the gears within the 'H' pattern isn't normal either...
