After joking to Bayliss Thomas last week about staying off the road while he tested his stabiliser, my son and his wife and friends were involved in an accident the following evening...
A large modern caravan ahead of them on the M40 ran over some debris and the tyre burst. The wheel nuts sheared and the wheel shot across the lanes and bounced off the central barrier, and hit their car window at 70mph. They were taken to hospital with cuts and bruises, but if the wheel had been at a slightly shallower angle it would have likely killed the occupants. The side of the caravan was ripped apart.
I don't know if anything could have prevented this, we must all be careful and bear in mind what can happen.
It's certainly made me think! Sorry to put a damper on things.
(Except the damper on my towbar)
Anyone else experienced a blow out? |

Frightening experience for all involved, as you say mercifully not quite as bad as may have been.
I suffered a blow out last Saturday evening, Chinese takeaway meal |
