I have a 1960 Sprite 400 but I am having trouble finding wheel trims for it.
The later ones seem to be too large, any ideas ?

First thing would be a pic of the wheel and the dimentions. Have you got a pic of the trim you are thinking of? Smile Alan

Hello,
We are in the same boat.
We are looking for chrome trims for our newly acquired '63 Alpine.
We tried an old Austin trim at the weekend which fit perfectly, probably off an A35 or similar.
Best Regards.
Wes.

I tried the ones from a later sprite but they were too large, the wheels on mine have three what could be called nail heads that the trim pushes onto.

Bit weird. From my brochures 1961, 65 and 67.

1961 the 400 and Alpine had 5.20 x 14 inch wheels
1965 and 67 they had 13 inch wheels.

Trim?? None of the factory pics I have show them with -trim- Hub caps yes. Some with -Sprite- on and some plain.

I would think that you both have 13 inch wheels and the -trim- came from an earlier 14 inch. The 3-point studs on the rims are the old style. Cars used these in the 50s and beginning of 60s. My Vogue from 57 has these. They are Austin A40 Somerset circa 1954. I have 2 new hubcaps in aluminium which would possibly fit a 13 inch rim...

I had an 1960 aerial and this had the 14 inch wheels and bulging deep dish type hubcaps, the ones i think your 400 should have. i have a photo and one of my grandparents friends early 400 in the 60s which i will try and post when i get home. i had a 1964 400 and this had the same hubcaps, but 13 inch wheels. Alpines and musketeers had 13 inch wheels from 62, but these are different to the 65 on wheels. the hucaps on the early ones were chrome steel with the s logo and smaller diameter than the later aluminium type. i will measure and post details/ photo later. 1961 im not sure about, the mk1 musketeer had 15 inch wheels and i suspect the prototype mk2 did too and possibly the very early production ones? the alpine and 400 may have by then neen on 13 inch? Or maybe still 14 inch wheels?

I have just seen someones handywork with a grinder, it was an early sprite 400 with glass windows, he decided to make it into an open trailer and after demolishing the interior with cooker, lights etc still in it, he gave up. This van has the same 3 stud fixings for the wheel hubs as my van.

Get all the parts off of it that you can. What does the cooker look like?
