Thought you might be interested in these few images. The Talisman pub in Parkgate, Southampton has a bar dedicated to the Tornado Talisman car with lots of photos etc. Once a year the club has a meet there and on Thursday of last week we had the rare occurrence of three Talismans in the same place. A Tempest, a Rochdale and a Fairthorpe also turmed up. My car is the red one on the right, the blue car is owned by the formed MD of the Tornado Car Company who is extremley knowledgeable about all the cars and the other red one attended Goodwood and on the Monday it was planned that it would feature in a repeat of a 1963 road test with a period Lotus Elan.

Yes it is Rick. The Typhoon was sold to Belgium, it then ended up in Spain and is now back in the Netherlands where it is apparently one of three Typhoons within a 50km radius.
The Talisman is used on historic rallies and a couple of pictures are attached from some recent events. One has my son driving with me alongside - unfortunately he is much quicker than me but of course doesn't pay the bills!

I think I remember seeing the blue car in Cardiff around 1969/70. That Reg is definately Cardiff or maybe Glamorgan.
It was often parked in Park Place where I worked at my first job and there was sometimes a Trident Clipper parked near it.
It was those two which kindled my passion for unusual cars that exists to this day. I always regarded the Tornado Talisman as a Herald based kit car which is probably doing it a terrible injustice. Wanted to own one all the same! |
