Hello
I have just bought a Castleton caravan which needs new roof lights. I am having roblems identifying the make of roof light, can anyone help?
There are newer alternatives available but I would prefer to keep it original if possible.

No direct response, but ...
Can you identify the year / model ?
Have you tried asking via the Castleton Owners Club. (http://www.castletonownersclub.org.uk/)

The caravan is a 1981 Roadsman GL according to the owners club who gave me the names of a couple of breakers none of whom where able to help.
I have also tried the national breaker search and called numerous other breakers.
the closest I have found is a Jensen roof vent, or the replacement cover for one, but I cannot find any other details about Jensen roof vents.

Just a thought ... why do you need to replace them? is the vent cover broken?
I recently dismantled my '83 Castleton Roberta Vents (not the same shape as yours) and thoroughly cleaned / rebuilt - came up a treat. Just wondered if yours are really too far gone / cracked / ...

Sadly with a lot of these classic caravans, the roof lights were made in degradeable plastic. The clear plastic clouds and cracks with the effect of ultra violet light and the white plastic becomes brittle and crumbles away. Unfortunetly after a few years the moulds were thrown away when orders were less and it was not ecconomic to keep making the items.
Unless you can find new old stock, I doubt any second hand items will be any better than you already have. The only option I think you have is to source new relacements as close in look to the original as you can find and fit the entire unit to your roof. _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! I'm rapidly coming to the same conclusion. I had thought about making new covers by vacuum forming which although I am capable of doing it is a lot of work. The other vent has suffered badly with the mechanism being broken away from the frame, I have the mechanism and it is possible to repair the frame but again a lot of work.
Consequently i think it would be better to fit two closely matching vents which will probably come from America.
