Hello all! I'm in my mid-fifties, semi-retired, and have a lot of fond memories of the fifties British cars I grew up surrounded by, here in Australia. If you say that's because I was looking at them and being passengered around, I won't argue
Dad had the only Series II Oxford I ever saw in those days. Others in the family had an A30, A35 van, A95 (won as a lottery prize!), and a series II Minor. Neighbours had an A40 Devon (A40s were all over the place back then!), Jowett Javelin, early P4 Rover with the light in the middle of the grille, an early fifties Minx, L-type and E-type Vauxhall Veloxes, and a Phase III Vanguard estate.
Me? I started driving with an early Mark 3 Cortina, or TC as they were known here. Unusually for an Aussie, mine was a 2000 four with automatic. My current oldie (I won't say "classic") is a 1984 Suzuki Swift with 92000km on it, which has been in the family from new.
I'm just getting the hang of how this board works for now, but I look forward to joining you in discussions and asking questions.
