Hi all, I have a caravan left to me by my grandparents a few years ago. They had it built to order in around 1968 by a company called Mayfair in Oldham. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this company and their reputation?
We used it a lot for a few years parked up in one place, but now have a child and need more than a 2 berth, so considering selling, but have no idea what it is worth. Would appreciate any help with that!
It is 16', with pull down double bed, gas cooker, gas fire, gas water heater, gas and 12v fridge, insulation under wood pannelling throughout, 12v and gas lighting, wired for 240v (but never used it) shower and toilet area with hand pump shower, kitchen sink/drainer, the roof seams have been resealed using bitumous paint a few times, windows all working and seal OK.

I've no real idea on what it's worth?
It'll be worth whatever you can get for it when you sell it.
Depends who's around at the time with money to spend?
I've seen some old derelict caravans go for silly money that I thought would be worth nothing and some real corkers that sold for no money at all

I think the same. It has some character and should appeal to someone looking for a period van. If it is sound and ready to use on the road then perhaps take some good photos of it and put it out on ebay with a reserve. Say that it is advertised elswhere and you might stop the auction at anytime in view of that. What´s the minimum you would be happy selling it for. If someone came and offered you 500 pounds would you sell it? 300?? You have to have some idea of what you yourself would feel happy parting with it for.... |

Ahh the age old question on what its worth. Mainly one can take two tacks on this. One is its worth what the owner thinks it is and the other is what the hopeful buyer thinks it is. Many a time there is a great gulf twixt the two.
This looks in very good condition, and it is a one off caravan, not another in like it on the planet. Unfortunetly unlike most things that dosn't mean its worth the same as the crown jewels. first you have to find someone who likes its shape and general layout etc etc etc. Buying an old caravan is like getting a wife or some slippers, it has to be comfy and fit in. Must admit this isnt my cup of tea and therefore wouldn't want it and would value it lowish, I'm sure someone will love it and think its worth a mint.
So how much is it worth, untill you sell it I think no one knows . _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)
