Any one have any details on this old girl? Dont know what year it was built or anything to be honest, It is very solid and dry inside but the cedar wood cladding could do with cleaning and oiling. Some one told me it was 30s then the next guy says 50s Confused

Looks like a 1950's home build to me, very interesting and a very well done interior. Worth saving definetly.

The caravan appears to be late 50s Is it a 2in or 50mm ball hitch? Interior layout is also 50s as are the fitments. I would have expected metal window frames not wooden. It therefore could be homemade, but well done. Very interesting

I agree bang on late 50,s looks like a two inch hitch, the timber cladding is very unusual, not seen this before Smile but in a strange way i really like this van love the interior, and on the whole van looks to well made to be home made ,if you know what i mean Smile OVM

I really like this 'van. I want one....

That cladding is really unusual - I think it must be made to survive!
Cedar needs oiling (If I can remember the trade name of some stuff I've been usung......)

Style inside and out reminds me of the mid to late fifties. It is well built by the look of it, a craftsman's hobby, perhaps?

Is it too much to hope that it is strong enough to move? perhaps on a loader if not its own wheels.

It was last moved only 4 years ago (low loader) there is no rot in the chassis or the timber floor, it is 100% solid and was very much built to last. A few more pics for those that like it Very Happy

Not had chance to take any measurements yet but will do Wink

I would certainly like the opportunity to refurbish this beauty - it would be time and effort well spent for the right owner to appreciate the result! Work of this sort is right up my street - not sure how much it would cost the owner, that'll need some thought.
Although I said "I want one" in my earlier post, it was in the context of wanting to work on it, it is so different - I am not really a caravanning type!

.
I think it's a production van with cedarwood cladding tacked over the outer skin.

I've seen a fair number of vans of that size and shape on farms.
They were used either to house workers, or for holiday lets.

Kind Regards, WLC.

Hi - we are now the proud owners of this lovely caravan.

We're going to restore it and use it for 'glamping' weekends (sorry, that's what people call it!) for visitors to our craft bakery in Dorset, www.honeybuns.co.uk as well as family trips away.

We'd like to offer a bit of history to visitors, so if anyone can help us find out a bit more about when and where it was made that would be great.

Also, I'm sure I'll be back with restoration queries as well...

Thanks

Not to put too fine a point on it, id rather stick hot pins in me eyes than go " glamping" Shocked
However, it's a very nice old caravan, made to a good standard for a home build and worth preserving. I just hope you dont put flowery wall paper in her Sad

Thanks for your comments!
It'll be as faithful a restoration as we can achieve so any additional information on the origin/era of the caravan would be greatly appreciated.
