| Somehow I have been able to avoid declaring SORN on my pre-war vehicle since 2005. I was obviously aware of this but computerised records should have shown that it wasn't being taxed after being "moth-balled" after three years' continuous testing and taxing. Given that tax was exempt from payment over this time I could hardly be seen to be evading tax. Does anyone have experience of being penalised for this offence. |

| Friend forgot to tax or sorn his Minor for nearly a year. When he realised he phoned DVLA who simply sent out a new tax disc and no further action. As no revenue was involved they told him they don't normally pursue such matters |

Thanks for that peppiB. It would really annoy me to have an £80 fine and then to be be given a free tax disc. |

Technically you could be fined, for every year untaxed or un-sorned, but the DVLA is more interested in folk with untaxed moderns..
