I went to a 'Standard Triumph' event at Dudmaston Hall in Shropshire a couple of years ago and there was a Vanguard diesel there, I have some photo's of it somewhere |

Don't look on them as the answer to cheap classic motoring. They're not what you would call fast. |

Reminds me my father had one - changed a V8 Pilot for it in the early 50's swapped back 3 weeks later after some considerable trouble from my mother who was very much a press on type of driver. Years later she still recalled it as probably the most awful and dog slow car she had ever driven.
The tractor version of the engine in my grey Fergie still manages a few hours grass topping every year however and reminds me of it.
The same engine was used in early diesel FX3 cabs as well - removed one from same in the late sixties always remember reg no LUW 460! That would have been no road burner ----- _________________ Jonathan Butler
