We are just back from 4 days in Blackpool. It is 2 years since we were last there, but what a difference and I must admit its for the better. Promenade is all done up. The streets are much tidier and quite a few of the hotels have been revamped. We will more than likely go back for the illuminations.
On the downside is that the old trams have gone and it has lost a lot of the atmosphere that they brought all multi coloured and rattling up and down. I hope they have kept some for the illuminations. Maybe someone can tell me if they are all scrapped. The new ones are really good though but not the same. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Have you ever watched 999 emergency about the emergency services in Blackpool. It would put you off going there. What a shower of no users some people are they are stopping real emergencies from getting attention......Bottoming for roads comes to mind. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

I used to live in Preston so took the kids to The Illuminations many times. The best we ever had was when they were allowed to stand up (pre seat-belt era) in my little Fiat and see the lights with their heads through the sunroof. we would be crawling along at walking pace or less and it was pure magic.
What a shame those innocent days are only about thirty years ago. |
