I liked the tigers tail the best. You could hang it on the interior mirror or out of your petrol tank flap
Then there was the World Cup coin collection and all sorts of glasses.
Or you could collect Green Shield stamps or Pink stamps. Some garages were giving Treble or Quadruple stamps competing against each other.
Now its Nectar points but I dont have a Nectar card.
I just get my petrol where its the cheapest. Did you ever collect freebies.? _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Worth getting a nectar card or a mileage card, just got £5.00 voucher which gave me a free meal in Morrisons, purely from free points, took a long time, but it felt good! |

Here it was Esso that were the best.
I collected the Nasa space coins in "Gold" which you should put on a cardboard, with the correct tekst next to the coin.
We also had the 4 colour books, with the worlds wildlife in them.
here it was colour pictures, that was suppose to be put into the pages.
there were all kind of other things, but these 2 I remember . _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

The only freebies I collected were the box of chocolates and set glasses every customer received during the opening week of a new filling station near Weston Super Mare. I took in three cars of my own plus my company car and van (twice each) during that week |

In the 70's I was driving 60-70000 miles a year and collected Esso Vouchers very quickly.
I cashed a box full for a Black and Decker Lawn Strimmer - retail value £19.99. Cost of the vouchers £1600 !! Good job it was the firm paying! _________________ Brian

I don't know if it was a national promotion, but back in the 90's (before the new Severn bridge opened) there was a long running "free food with fuel" promotion where my dad used to fill up his works car at the old Severn View services - Esso, if memory serves. It was a voucher for £1 of food at the services given with every £20 of fuel purchased - and he used to get through lots of petrol at work, to the point where we could all go down to Severn View probably about 3 Sundays in 4 for a meal, luckily we didn't live too far away. Now you're probably all thinking "motorway food, no thanks", but as well as the grubby, noisy fast food place downstairs the old services at Severn View (now offices, I believe) had a proper big restaurant upstairs with big windows looking out over the estuary. Although it was starting to look a bit shabby by this time - the writing was on the wall with the new bridge under construction and most of the passing trade about to disappear - it was kept clean and the food was excellent, choice of 2 or 3 huge joints of top quality meat, proper roast potatoes, the works. It was a deal better than you'd get at a lot of pubs nowadays, the promotion lasted for a long time and there was no limit to how many vouchers you could use at once - three meals, five meals, no bother and no cash required
Happy days |

These books had blank frames, which could be filled with colour pictures, you got from the Esso gas station when you bought petrol.
There were 4 in the series, will have a look for the last 1 . _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

Years ago I had a Key Points card and you got obviously more points with the more petrol you bought. I still have a heat massager and a drill I got years ago. I always went to the same petrol station as the girl was a lovely bit of stuff and she always gave me extra points.....sigh.. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |
