I have heard this story before, I always thought that two planes from different generations that didn’t get the recognition they deserved were the Beaufighter and from more recent times the Buccaneer both low level and anti shipping airplanes by design. The Beaufighter over shadowed by the Mosquito and the Buccaneer only getting a chance to show what it could do in the Gulf war near the end of its working life. There rebuilding a Beaufighter at Duxford and I’m looking forward to seeing that finished.
