I need to deaden the noise a bit on the estate as its like driving a van. I only have the carpets directly on to the floor. Sound deadening sheets on ebay are expensive. Can anyone suggest what else I could use.

A large bail of hay should sort it, and would smell of spring too which must be a good thing!

More seriously though this stuff is a bit cheaper perhaps:

Or cheaper still just some normal carpet underlay ??

I thought I might use these next time I run the truck Smile The rear area is like an echo chamber, it could probably do with a partition.

The underfelt wont do it on its own, you need to put some of these Black tar / Asphalt like mats = http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271127742926?nma=true&si=VSZ0Eiyq2k%2BEXkolGm4ntPNAZmg%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=true

Here in Denmark I have found them in 3 mm & 6 mm thickness.

I use the thick ones for floors, and the thinner ones for doors quarter wings etc.

they make a HUGE difference.

To dampen panels use Corothem butyl flash banding. B&Q used to stock it, I'm not sure if they still do. It's not necessary to cover the whole panel, about 50% should do the job. It's very good for doors, boot sides and lids etc.

Butyl is reckoned to be better than bitumen based as it doesn't smell of tar so much in hot weather and doesn't soften and slide down vertical panels e.g. inside doors - that's what I'm told, I haven't tried the two side by side.
