I have just been reading the article concerning Metamet Jeeps. When I was 17 and had just passed my test I had a passing fancy for a Jeep. A local dealer (now long gone) was advertising several. When I got there he must have had about 6 or 8. They all had Woodie bodies very much like the Metamet offering, they looked awful! They were all painted maroon and grey and they all had the front propshafts removed for economy.

He was on a farm at Great Witley that's about 9 miles from Worcester on the Tenbury road. According to his mechanic at the time the Jeeps were purchased as a job lot.

These were definetely based on war time Jeeps. The few U.S. Postal Service Jeeps I have seen, have all been much later models and usually they are right hand drive
