Here's a puzzler! Someone on an American forum asked me to identify this as they thought it was 'European'. I reckon it's definitely British judging by things like the window construction and body fittings. But it doesn't make sense to me - the body style says late-50s/early-60s but I think the paddle door handle says 1970s. And that roof looks like a glassfibre moulding to me and I almost recognise it - is it from a body for something like an ambulance?
So I wonder if this is a fairly modern one-off, rather expertly built? Click on the photos for links to the Flickr album the photos are from (just these three). All (polite) suggestions gratefully received.

| The only proprietory van I have seen with that shape is the South Bay (you know, the "JAM 42" jam pot style) , but they were longer? |

| I would certainly think it is british. The windows, lights, door handle, tow hitch and the handles on the cupboards look deffinately UK. Perhaps a prototype that was only made in a few ex. It looks too proffs made to be a home build..... |

interesting not seen this van for a while , was originally gray with a black strip and a white roof , the van was towed from what i remember a morris lorry, and the pair had matching paint jobs , the outfit were on the club display at stoneligh town and country festival around 10 years ago
A couple of years later the van came up for sale in the Hcc newsletter (£1500) comes to mind but i may be wrong
The reason for the 70s door handle is, the van was found in very poor state , i.e. not much left inside so the internals and fittings were salvaged from a scrap 70s caravan ,
Its a nice looking van, but i have been on the understanding its a "non prop "
Am sure a more detailed history is with the HCC historian, and if your a club member give him a try |
