That is right ...we went to Barrington nr Cambridge this morning...when we arrived a very nice lady told us the event had been cancelled.

But like us there were lots of folks who knew nothing about this,so turned up anyway.
They say about 160 vehicles turn up on New Years Day normally.

They have meets on the first Friday evening of the month,so April onwards this event is on our calender.

Barrington is a lovely village nr Cambridge, the houses look like they are occupied by well healed types.

We saw just the type of property we would have liked in the village.....but would the residents like it if i turned up with all my vehicles and built a large workshop on the land....I do not think the well healed residents or the parish council would like me at all.
"Just what is that man doing with his angle grinder upsetting the birdsong this fine summers evening"...I can hear them saying.

Happy New Year

If they complain at your grinder, then do some hot rivetting, they will not know what to do then... Laughing

Nice pictures! Regarding the house, it doesn't look as if you have neighbours too close so I wouldn't worry too much about the noise from the angle grinding. We have neighbours close on all sides, but I just try to keep my grinding to office hours, and the quieter stuff at weekends. Not had any complaints so far (touch wood!)

Was the little yellow Austin part of the show, or did it live at the big white house?

We think the yellow car was owned by the residents of the large white house.

I was only joking about the noise issue.

We have seen many properties in the centre of a village ripe for restoration but have always said we would rather purchase the last one on the edge of the village next to farmland and with a bit of elbow room around it and away from all the busy bodies living in the centre of the village watching your every move.

I am always aware of how loud some tools are,air tools are a prime example, you can hear them from quite a distance away.

Our hobby does generate noise when carrying out bodywork repairs, for instance when using an angle grinder for different purposes, removing light rust, cutting sheet steel or cleaning up welds etc.

Mechanical work I find is very different, you can even listen to the Archers whilst working on an engine rebuild.!!!

What we need is an acoustic sound proof box to work in sometimes, then we can use our grinders at 2.00am in the morning..
