As yet I have never won anything and not likely to.
There is a chap comes up from Penrith ( helluva nice bloke to talk to) with a dark green mk1 Cortina and he wins loads of prizes. Mind you the car is stunning.
Have you ever won anything.? _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

I once won 'Best in Show' For my Austin 10/4 and Chateaumobile Folding Caravan. I hadn't even washed and polished it before the show. A guy next to me spent the weekend buffing up his Jaguar while I watched admiringly from behind several pints of bitter.
He was sick as a parrot when I won. Just shows it's not always the immaculate cars that catch the judges eye. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

..and so you should have Pigtin. I didn't know that such enlightened judges exist. |

I still bear a grudge for the fact that I wasn't awarded the "Long Distance Award" at an Austin Ten Rally. Having motored from Cannich, which is 30 miles west of Inverness to Brighton racecourse in a 1935 Austin I obviously expected to win this. I don't know if they confused Cannich with Cannoch or that they didn't consider me because I had actually spread the driving over five days. I now prefer to avoid the competition.

I nearly won Kit car of the show.
But lucky for them I was not around
When the club members were asked were I was, and the reason for wanting to know, they were warned not to.
I do not own a 'Kit' car, There was never a 'Kit' or parts that you went out and bought, and more than likely got someone else to glue it together, for the DLM.
Being 'one of' most of the car was made by the builder Derek Lawrence Masters.
Don't know if they count
Club Member of the year 2011
and longest travelled for the 2012 Christmas cruise.
Not too bothered relay, not got any where to put them. |

My 1966 Volvo Sport was quit good at hauling "Bling" home
Got a couple of bookshelfs filled with buckles, from the days I toured the carshows with it.
My 3 Mini,s have also pulled a few buckles. _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

Nearly had the same trouble with the Pigtin Special. They either think it a kit or some obscure 1930s model. 'It's ages since I last saw one of these' I've been told. Don't like to tell them it's unique and most of it was assembled by me in 1998. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. You get them at every turn, even when you tell them it's a one of.
"What is it"
"It's a typical 1950's one of special called a DLM. DLM being the initials of the man who built it"
"Oh yer I remember them"
Nigel gets the same with his Ford Saxon reconstruction,
Ford only built one that was destroyed and Nigel has reconstructed one even Ford thought it was the original.
You here people sayng " good car in their time"
Even if you correct them they still don't get it |

| I got best original car with a Ph2 Vanguard at a Coronation Jubilee run. It had a lot of period extras, but the polarity had been changed and in the radio slot was an am/fm cd player...... |

I had people looking at the Wood & Pickett / JanSpeed Mini, and asking me, how bad it was when I found it ?
I then politely point to my Aboard, and tell them its the same car as in the before / during restoration pictures.
They then look angry at me, as if I just told them the biggest lie in the world, and walk away. _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |
