We are hitting 95p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of >an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place

not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not

purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send i t to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the

message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have

been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt,

all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! Acting together we can make a difference If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso.

A few of the tiny local village garages in Suffolk are selling petrol at £1.01 a litre. Makes you wonder how long these garage will be bale to carry on with the super markets being able to sell it for 5-8p less.

We have two large garages in our town, one closed for renovation a few weeks ago and the remaining one took advantage and put the price of diesel up to £1.039. This will not be forgotten by locals!
I feel sorry for the small country garages that don't have a large shop attached, most of them are gone in this area, like many pubs and post offices.

I used to buy my fuel from a garage I like out in the country, it was dearer and it was further away than the supermarket, but I liked that garage, it has since closed, so Morrisons or Sainsbury's it is!

Tell yer what. The Govt. have done an absolutely brilliant job on conning the motorist or general public that high petrol prices are all down to the big bad oil companies.
Yes, they make a profit. Thats what corporations do, but a lot of that comes from refining.
The oil company take on a gallon/liter of petrol is minimal. Its all about volume sales. The retailer makes even less.
As you are, or should be aware, taxes on petrol in the UK are approx 80%.
Yes, that's right. For every One Pound per litre, Uncle Gordon takes 80p. The actual cost of the fuel is about 15p and the operating company and the retailer split the remaining 5p.
If there was a big profit in petrol, why do you think that every petrol station has a mini supermarket?
If the oil company and the retailer GAVE the fuel away for free, it would still cost you 80p per liter in taxes.
The enemy is not the oil company, it is the tax and spend governments we continue to vote for.
Again, 49 BILLION pounds is raised in revenue from the motorist and 6 Billion goes back into transport.
Thats a net profit of 43 BILLION to spend on p*key, Immigrants, The Workshy and Disabled Lesbian Outreach Workers.

How the hell the author of this piece thinks that petrol will come down to 69p per liter is beyond me. It shows very sloppy thinking and a poor grasp of economics.

For your information, there is ZERO tax on petrol in places like Dubai.
How much is it? Yep, 60p PER GALLON or 12p per liter for the metric people.
That's how much it costs even at $96 per barrel of oil.

Don't expect petrol prices to come down EVER in the UK. It's a cash cow for the Govt. and they must be on their knees thanking whatever God they pray to for the Global Warming crap which now gives them a chance to add even more taxes to save the lovely cuddly Polar Bears.

BTW, as far as Green taxes go (like the ones on airlines etc) for every pound the Govt takes, 2p goes back to the environment and 98p goes in the pocket.

Remember who your real enemy is.

Yup! Should have had my brain in gear and realized that 69p was a bit 'pie in the sky' being aware of the tax content. Mind you: anything that can be done to embarrass these scumbags is good.
Unlike the rest of us; MPs do not have to pay for their own petrol to get to work, and they have just voted themselves another 10k (I think) for the cost of stationery to 'make us aware' of what government is doing... we know exactly what B******s are doing. and if the other lot get in, they'll do the same.

I never buy supermarket fuel since I had problems with one of my cars earlier this year.
It was a diesel that has covered 175k since I bought it new. It has never missed a beat until I filled up with supermarket fuel. Next day I started from cold and it sounded like an injector was blowing......Ok when warmed. Injector cleaner administered and run the tank empty, refilled at my local station and no further problems since

I'm pretty sure that all fuel is not the same, if I remember the words of someone who looked into this in some depth as part of his job, he was wary of supermarket fuel too

Changed to local garage and car now running fine.

Whay do we stand for this with petrol, prices continually rising far exceeding inflation. If it happened to our groceries, we would all start growing fruit and veg, and rearing our own food. We need to make a stand!

In the old days (ie 15-20 years ago), when petrol was priced in gallons, there'd be uproar if a gallon went up by 5p or so. Now no-one notices, or bothers, when prices go up by 2p per litre

Sorry Old Gto, I can't sympathise with you when you are complaining of gas reaching 32p per litre!

We are talking of £1.00 per litre in Europe!
