I'm looking for a classic caravan preferably under 20 foot, pre 1985 almost any condition considered as long at its not ready to drop off it's chassis.

I'm near Southampton on the south coast but can collect obviously I'm happy to bring decent wheels and a trailer board.

I'm fairly capabable at DIY and have the space and tools for restoration work.

Myself and my family work festivals through the summer and I need to get ready for Glastonbury 2013.

My familly all have classic Bedfords, FGS and merc lorrys/busses and I'm letting the side down.

I'm not looking for charity but I've seen a really really poor condition pearman and Briggs safari go for 3 times what I would have valued it on eBay recently.

So if you have a half done project or no longer interested in your old van I might be interested!

Funny you should ask that. I am contemplating what to do with mine.

I have an Avondale Leda 1884 model. It has hot water system and fridge / fire etc. I bought it a few years ago and being my first one, got led up the garden path with it. I paid £300 for a totally rotten van! Anyway, I picked myself up, whipped out the interior and some panels and started work. I have repaired 99% of the structure now and bought some new wallboards for it. There is a new skylight fitted too.

Should it be of interest, I am open to offers. The van is in Gloucester. It probably could be towed with care.

Avondale Leda 1984, is that the one with a brown gotten half?

I used to live in Tewkesbury so know exactly where you are.

Not sure if a Leda is something I would want for years. I've had 3 other caravans and they were all prettier things to looks at.

But any chance of a picture ?

It had a twin colour stripe, not brown lower. I have some photos somewhere on my system, but will have to organise them over the weekend for you.

Classic caravans can no longer be picked up for scrap money even if they are rough. Even 70’s style caravans are enjoying a renaissance which I think is great to see. It took me two years to find something suitable for us and even then I compromised on brand – but very happy with our choice in the end.

That popular web based auction site is abundant with older caravans but not often do they come up that are true to their word on condition Shocked

This might be worth a look

I just looked at that caravan befor I checked these forums and thought how ugly it was Smile

Didnt even put it on watch.
eBay sometimes is an arse and I just want to avoid the cost that seems to be added to some items when you list an item on eBay you are just looking to make as much money as possible the customer and product become more annoyances people bid on there own items etc.

I'm not looking for scrap value vans I've had a good week and bookings are nice for the rest of the month too, at the moment my budget is £800 ish.

I'm in talks with a couple people my best offer is a amaculate condition 1974 14ft safari for just £700 and I'm waiting for pictures of 3 other vans.

Thanks for the info and link Smile
