The Cambridge would make a nice restoration. Wonder how easy it is
to ship cars from there.
What's the little off-roader on OP's Avatar? Looks like the type which appeared in thet Sunday night vet programme. |

Great photo`s.
The Jaguar bieng worked on looks like an XK chassis,is it a 140 or 150.?
The number plates look interesting, are they from different areas of the country like here in the UK.?
I would be interested in any Austins,Hillmans or Morris cars you may find.
I have a friend going to retire over there any time now.

Hi Gresham,
The XK is a 140, you can see the front of the body on the photo below. The story of Kenyan number plates is quite interesting, early ones tells you where they were issued, but for the last 3 or 4 decades, they have been issued centrally here in Nairobi. Here's a link with the full story:
http://www.vccck.org/index.php/kenyan-motoring/registration-system/51-how-old-is-your-car
I used to own an interesting and very original 1957 Hillman Minx convertible (registration number KGB 364) here about 12 years ago, I am told it is now painted pink and used as a wedding car!!! I'll try and find photos...
Finally, do tell your friend to contact me when he moves to Kenya!

Hi 52 classic,
In a word, hugely complicated and expensive... And because Classic cars here are scarse, asking prices are normally unrealistic, you have to be very patient to buy one at a sensible price. This is made worse by the fact that the import of cars over the age of 8 is banned (to prevent the dumping of bangers on the local market) so if you want a Classic, you need to find a local one... |

As Kitisuru, states complicated - but not imposible
we brought our 1948 Cooper 500 back from Kenya ten years or so ago, in as found condition.

Hi Kitisuru,
Your pics are very interesting. I am particularly interested in the Land Rover Classic. I've heard there is a land Rovr Club of kenya and would like to know their info as they may give me pointers on how to source parts for my classic Landy. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. |

Are my old eyes deceiving me, or do the rear fins on that Cambridge slope the wrong way?
The front end is Austin Cambridge A55, but the fins are Riley 4/68. |

| That green 88" Series 1 looks a fantastic restoration indeed! VERY nice! I'd really fancy that 107" pickup with the tropical skinned truck cab! |
