If I was no longer able to drive for health or what other reasons I would not know what to do with myself. I would have to sell my cars and I would be completely lost without them. An empty garage or runway doesnt appeal to me at all. I have had a bus pass for 6 years and have used it once. To me life revolves round the motor car and I would be lost without one. Do others feel the same or am I just being morbid. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I'm the same as you, I would hate not to be able to enjoy driving my cars
Just today trundling through the country lanes in my little car was great, what with being made redundant at Christmas, some of my other hobbies I can no longer afford to do so I really appreciate the times when I can get the old car out for a run.......not easy for any of us with the extortionate cost of fuel!

Larry,

I know where you're coming from. I am further 'down the road' than you and I'm not looking forward to the day that I can't or wont be allowed to drive.

As far a the bus pass goes, I use mine regularly especially if I go into Glasgow. The on-street parking there is now £5 an hour, that is if you can find a space. What with dedicated bus lanes a cycle lanes there are fewer parking spots available it just isn't worth the hassle.

I don't know if it's a bit of 'grumpy old man' syndrome but some of the driving standards nowadays are appalling. Crying or Very sad

I get as much pleasure working on other peoples' cars as do on my own. In fact I probably prefer it. I have a friend who is an old car addict and I've been working on his substantial fleet for years. He also has an ex-motor mechanic who is in his 80s who works on the things that I refuse to touch.

Two years ago I broke the lower tibia in my right leg and was warned not to drive for at least six weeks.

I hope that the impatience and frustration of those weeks was not a foretaste of what will happen when I eventually have to stop driving. Crying or Very sad

It would be difficult for me to not be able to drive our classics permanently as I know what its like to be deprived of driving them or even travelling in them periodically because of a chronic health problem even as recently as 4 weeks ago.

I suppose when I do retire which is getting uncomfortably close I will have to downsize from the 7 we currently have!

Hopefully the wife who drives them all will be able to drive me around in them when I am past it - certainly we will not resort to having to use a modern car though as I would prefer to use the bus or the tram which will be up and running close by at the end of next year

Roger we could have a section for mobiliy scooters and cars. I remember years ago the small blue mobility three wheeled cars. I wonder what is the oldest mobility car.
