Hi I am new to this forum and classic vehicles, so I am introducing my self and the vehicle.
I am an engineer for Britvic Soft Drinks in London, they own a 1954 Albion FT3 Brewers Dray, in R Whites colours, I have been tasked with getting this vehicle running again. It run a few years back but the person who looked after it sadly passed away, and it is just sitting in a garage on site collecting grime. So I am not sure of the mechanical condition of anything, I presume the brakes will be seized up and I can see there is an oil leak onto the exhaust box.
Where would be the starting point for this work, see if the engine runs or fix all the mechanical problems first?

Welcome to the forum.

For starters I'd be inclined to change all the fluids (engine oil, coolant etc), pop a drop of oil into the cylinders and let it soak for a few days, and try spinning it over with a fresh battery (connections cleaned) and see if you can get some oil pressure.

Do you have any pictures of the lorry?

You could try the Scottish Vintage Vehicle Trust who have a number of Albion buses in their collection, which I'm pleased most of them are on the road.

They did work on Glasgow's Riverside Museum Albion bus and did a very good job if I say so myself, so they obviously have volunteers used to working with old Albions and may be able to guide you.

Click - Scottish Vintage Vehicle Trust for contact details, etc.

Thanks for the info chaps, changing the fluids and trying it sounds like a good idea, I will also contact the Scotish Vintage Vehicle Trust

I will sort out a couple of pictures and get them posted, she used to be at the Bass Museum so you never know some of you might already have pictures of her.

Hi Brian, would love to see photos of the Albion. If you get a chance try and go to the Biggar Rally in the summer, always loads of Albions there.

This vehicle sits on one side of the Albion, that will be my next project. The one on the other side that you can see the front of behind the Albion I do not have a clear picture of, will get one Monday for you. All three of these used to reside at the Bass Museum, when Coors took over Bass they did not want anything in the museum so Britvic took the lorries back.
It is planned to get the Albion to a couple of rally's this year, not sure about the Biggar one though

Does anyone know if a vehicle like this that has been standing around for a long time, will there be a problem with the wheel bearings. Like getting small flats on the balls/rollers.

What type of brake fluid would be used in this vehicle, I know it is Lockheed but that is it.

I'd have thought it'd be fine to be honest.

Did know of a company the stored all its spare electric motors in the compressor room. They all failed when put back into service. They found out that the vibrations damaged the bearings.
