The most I have owned at one time is 5, which will be a small amount compared to others I would imagine.
1999 Mazda Premacy.
1971 Marina 1300 Saloon.
Q Plate Pilgrim Bulldog Kit car ( in bits but running.)
Another 2 marinas running but rotten.
How many have you had (or still have.) at once.

This was what I use to own, back in 2006 (now downsized to "just" 8 )

1962 Volvo Amazon (very early = low body no)
1965 Cooper S (not original = race car)
1966 Volvo 122 Sport - Ragtop / one owner before me.
1967 Mini 850, project.
1969 Volvo Amazon - SOLD.
1970 Volvo Amazon (one of the last) SOLD.
1973 Wood & Pickett Margrave, with JanSpeed Turbo conversion.
1978 Mini 1000, lowmilage project.
1978 Mini Special, bought new by my Father.
1984 Opel Kadett 1.3 automatic (replaced in 2007, by my current dayli drive = a 1992 VW Golf III 1.8.

Most I've ever had at any one time was five 'oldies'. Now down to four.
1926 Chrysler series 60 tourer
1928 Morris Cowley (wide track export model) tourer, but now becoming a roadster!
1932 Austin Seven sedan. Long wheelbase model RN.
1950 Austin A40 tourer (Australian built) Never been unlicenced in it's life!

Well 4 is the most I have had at any given time.
First time I had 4 cars they were;
1976 green mini
1977 surf blue mini (at the time still in its original beige)
1976 clubman estate (daily but shortly after scrapped)
1991 Rover mini cooper (sold)

Then I had;

1976 Green mini
1977 surf blue mini
1977 orange mini (scrapped)
1995 Hyundai accent GLS (daily)

Now the list reads almost the same but instead of the orange mini I have the 1970 hillman hunter deluxe

I must own 7 vehicles at the moment, but probably 11 or 12 vehicles maybe between me and dad.

A friend must have 3 or 400 I would think... I have a way to go yet..
