I read in the paper at the weekend that thousands are quitting it every day. Took them a while. I deleted mine ages ago.

Just a couple of days ago I received the following message from Facebook:

Dear Peter,

Your Facebook account was recently logged into from a computer, mobile device or other location you've never used before. For your protection, we've temporarily locked your account until you can review this activity and make sure no one is using your account without your permission.

Did you log into Facebook from a new device or an unusual location?

- If this was not you, please log into Facebook from your computer and follow the instructions provided to help you control your account information.

- If this was you, there's no need to worry. Simply log into Facebook again to get back into your account.

For more information, visit our Help Centre here:

Thanks,
Facebook Security Team

This was a genuine message and it turned out that the location was not one that I had been to so I changed my password and restricted the Facebook access. Facebook may be vulnerable to attack but at least they warn you.

Peter

Like the internet in general, it just needs common sense when using it.

There is a section where you can limit your public profile to make it private. You can choose who sees your content - 'Friends, 'Friends of Friends' or 'Public', etc.

Go up the right hand side of the Facebook task bar and locate the little padlock. Click on that icon and a drop down window lists a set of options for you to choose to suit your comfort zone. Don't miss at the bottom of the drop down window a strip button that if you click on it gives you further security options to choose from.

Hope this helps you feel more secure. Wink
