UK leaders' welcoming cars to Chinese leaders during their formal visit
hello, friends, i'm from China, and i'm quite interested in vintage cars, especiall rolls-royce and bentley. and now i'm doing some research on China and UK vintage car relationship, i need some materials about what kind of old cars UK prime minister or queen used to welcome Chinese leaders when they visited UK. the Chinese leaders include: Li Hongzhang(in late Qing dynasty) 1896 visit, Hua Guofeng 1979 visit, Hu Jintao 2005 visit, Wen Jiabao 2011 visit to UK. and also the photos.it's difficult for me to find such information in China, and i really hope i can get help in this forum. thanks very much!
looking forward to your reply......

Hu Jintao 2005, his visit to Buckingham Palace was in the royal coach.
Nothing more at the moment. |

hi, roger, i'm so excited to see the video you provided! it's rarely seen here in China. i'm so grateful to you! but because i don't speak French, and can't get the meaning of the video, but it seems that the video is about Hua Guo feng's visit to Paris... and about the car from which he walked out, i can't see clearly what type of car it was, and whether it's the same car when he visited UK. maybe it's different?
as for Hu JinTao's 2005 visit of royal coach, thanks so much for the information! i also searched about this, it seems that many foreigner leaders visit Buckingham Palace in the Royal Coach. but aside from that, when he visited other parts of London, what type of car did he use? i know it's not easy to find that, but i still want to try... so it would be very kind of you to share with me if you know any further information....thank you so so much!!! |

Welcome to the forum.
I don't think foreign government officials and heads of state are normally driven around in the UK in old cars. They are normally pretty boring modern things that offer a higher level of security.

Dear Peter,
thanks so much for your information which is so so important, useful and complete! i really learnt a lot from that.
i think you're right, only Li HongZhang's 1896 visit might involve an old car. others do not.
i read the information you provided very carefully, and the only one little question is: when foreign leaders go to UK, does Qeen Elizebath always use the "state car"(as mentioned in the article, would be Bently or Rolls,or others for former UK heads) to serve the foreign leaders? i mean the queen sits together with foreign leaders inside of one car, and accompany them to go around London... it that like this?
is there any possibility that the queen's personal car or prime minister's car be involved to serve the visiting leaders?
thank you again! |
