I am looking for some type of aerosol paint that I can just give some bare metal a dust coat with to prevent the surface rust coming back, whilst I am waiting to finish the prep for the primer. Which is going to be a few weeks yet.

I need something reasonably priced as it will be smoothed down for the primer coat. Any recommendations? It's for my Fiat 500 bonnet and engine lid.

What about some upol acrylic etch primer? Cheap enough on ebay and ive used it quite a lot. Doesnt seem to react with other paints afterwards.

Epoxy primer. Can be painted on and left for 6 months if need be. Just clean and flat for top coat.

I'm using Jotun HB which may be the same stuff. Have a look on the MIG welding forum for enlightenment. Search Jotun epoxy.

Another vote for epoxy primer, if the panel will be left for a few weeks.

Cheers Peter. Reasonably priced as well. Covers 10m2 enough to do about 3 Fiat 500's Wink
