Rick, in the unlikely event that the Dodge was registered by/for the first owner and then remained registered, without a break, until you got it, then you might have a hope through the Motor Reg. Department.
Unfortunately, if a vehicle becomes unregistered in Oz, and I believe that all states work the same way, when it is re-registered it gets a completely new and up to date registration number. This makes it impossible to use the most recent number for any historical search.
Having said that, some states do require details of previous registration when re-registering, but I fear that that is a fairly recent innovation. Even so, I fear that one would have to be friendly with an employee of the records department to get anywhere tracing backwards through previous registration numbers.
I do believe that, certainly until recent times, when a vehicle was unregistered for a period, it was, in effect, wiped from the records. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

Rick as you know I was able to get the history of my Alvis 12/50 sold new in Australia via a contact and the Owners Club out there. Emails from previous owners provided restoration details and that it had been used in competition. I rather suspect in the case of your car you may have difficulty - I was very lucky (and its indeed nice to have the history)!. In my car's lifetime it has carried 5 I think different no plates and was known as Ko by an old owner from one of these.
I can't recall where you bought it but if from an importer perhaps first call but I am sure you will have done that. Otherwise is there a vintage club in the area it was imported from? That might be worth a try. _________________ Jonathan Butler
