Looks like Morris 8, pre series, series 1, series 2. To me _________________ old tourer

I'd agree with a Morris 8, and the bonnet catch is in the right place in relation to the vents.

They certainly do look like Morris 8 bonnet leaves - but they are certainly different to my Series 1.
Where the two top sections come together, there are interlocking hinge sections - through which passes the brass hinge pin. Per the photo itwould appear that as these two sections come together the hinge would take on a full form with no gaps.
On mine there is also a 'rain gutter' as part of this assembly which hangs, below the hinged section, in the engine bay that directs water away from the top of the engine. This gutter is also held in place by the brass hinge pin - as such the second hinge 'loop' is missing from the top bonnet hinge at both ends, as it is replaced with the hinge loop on the 'rain gutter'.
This may be an Australian modification or possibly that the bonnet is from a Pre-Series or early Series 1. Unfortunately mine is 8500 odd kms away so can't post a photo right now

The example shown would be from a very early 35 (pre-Series) model. Early cars did not have the drip channel, and unsurprisingly it was found in service that this caused ignition problems in wet weather (not exactly an unusual occurrence in Britain).
As far as I know the channel was added retrospectively. Certainly the Series I Parts List makes no mention of earlier parts, but no doubt a '35 Parts List would show different numbers. A similar case arose recently on the Morris Register (GB) forum in respect of other items superseded by a better design, the earlier parts being listed in the '35 Parts List but excluded from the Series I List. It's possible that the parts shown were discarded when the car's bonnet was replaced with the later improved design.
