Bit pricey for a pile of rotten hardboard and rust and if that's an Airlight I'm the King of France. The Exeter boys are at it again I see
Ha ha best add in ages, god can this man bull it up Even dragged Bob in to it ( aka Cobber on the forum ) it really is a rotten old dog its stuck on a old morris car axle and wheels , and was made to look like an airlite by a former editor of the HCC many years ago, top marks to the best BS Add ever
And as for the other add the price started at £3.5 k then was changed to 5 k value what ever the the buyer wants to pay i suppose, but not a penny over £750 surely ? the seller is just jumping on the Exeter band wagon |

Yeah... G'day Paul,
You know me..... Desperately grabbing at every straw in an effort to find my 1936 vans origins, be it the plans it was built from or the builders interpretation of another van around at the time.
The Airlites of 1935-36 appear to be the only ones that might have given some inspiration to the bloke who built my van, but I have to say.....everything about my van is a vast improvement on the van Phoenixcaravans calls an Airlite.
So the search continues
Cobber. |

Hi everyone
I have an original airlite brochure of the period I will try to scan it and put some pictures on here as a comparison. But they look too be miles apart, I hate to see people being ripped off on eBay. Someone should post a comment on the ad if it were possible. I see he has had two offers already?...

My advice to anyone would be.. do not deal with Phoenix caravans. They are [deleted*]. They put my back up a while ago and I wont forget it because so far anyone connected with old caravans has been genuine and very friendly....... except phoenix!!
"Deformation of character" you cry........ tough!
*specifics removed, but the overall impression remains, thanks - RJ. |

Not too bad for an all in restoration, some friends of ours who do not have the skill to restore anything, paid £11,000 to buy and restore their old caravan. _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)

My advice Garry if your going to try and charge this amount of cash for a full restoration , find a van that can justify the expense, when done it wont look any prettier ,and it will still be a home made van from the late 40s
worth no more than 3k,tops, get rid and find a proper 30s van to restore don't try and make money out of this van you will only lose
I know it sounds a bit harsh but am just trying to be helpful .. ovm |

I've seen that 'Airlite' before. Many years ago at Tatton Park on the J Type van stand if i recall correctly. Wasn't half as tatty then, I think it was towed there, but the paint job and the not very smoothly curved stripes on the side (screwed on pieces of ply) do look familiar. I'll have a pic of it somewhere... _________________ cheers
