|
|
| We have a 1967 Volkswagen Fastback Type 3 in our garage and it hasn't been on the road for about 5 years (nor has the engine been switched on in that time). Is there something we should do before we turn on the engine, for example spray the cylinders? Any suggestions so that we don't damage the car would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks so much. |

If you can, remove the spark plugs and spray in a bit of lubricant, WD 40 or similar
Check the oil in the sump
If you have a few strong people about try putting it in gear and rock back and forward (best doing this with the plugs still out)
Take out of gear and see if the car will roll, ie ensuring that the clutch isn't stuck
If the clutch is stuck don't start it unless you either have space in front of you, or you can get the driving wheels off the ground, or you'll end up through the garage wall
Put plugs in connect battery and go for it |
